After your visit – concerns about a prisoner

You may have to pass through the x-ray and metal detector machines as you leave the prison.

You may be searched as you leave the prison If there is a reason to be suspicious about your visit.

Worried or concerned

If you are worried or concerned about a prisoner please let us know as soon as possible.

This includes:

  • as you leave prison
  • when you are on the way home
  • the next day, or later

We take the health of prisoners seriously and want to know about concerns regarding:

  • self-harm
  • suicidal thoughts
  • anxiety problems
  • medication or ill health requirements
  • drug or alcohol issues

We can make sure a social worker, Case Management Co-ordinator [or other support as required] is informed and able to visit and talk with the prisoner.

There are several support groups that can also help you and give advice about your situation.
