Today it was announced that all South Australian prisons and prison grounds will be smoke free by the end of 2019.
Tobacco smoking is the leading cause of preventable disease and death in Australia.
Upon implementation, the strategy will deliver a range of health benefits for staff, visitors and prisoners.
A specific date for implementation is yet to be determined.
