Example contraband list
Examples of prohibited items that are strictly not permitted to be mailed to a prisoner including but not limited to:
- illicit drugs
- prescription and non-prescription medications
- implements linked to drug use (eg. syringe)
- any form of powders
- offensive materials (eg. pornographic or racist material)
- tobacco or implements linked to tobacco use (eg. lighters, matches, filters)
- chewing gum
- incense, potpourri, candles, oils or diffusers
- movies, CDs, DVDs over M rating
- plastic bags or wrap (eg. cling wrap)
- photographs (you must write to the prison's General Manager for approval)
- disposable razors/razor blades
- yeast or yeast extracts
- any flammable, corrosive or toxic substance
- any electronic communication, recording or storage device (eg. mobile phone, sim card, camera, memory card, USB storage device etc)
- cash
- electronic money orders (standard money orders accepted)
- smart watches/activity trackers
- weapons
- tools
- alcohol or any alcohol based products
- outlaw motorcycle group or other gang related items (e.g. flags, patches or clothing).
- any item that is deemed by DCS to pose a potential risk to the safety and security of the institution, prisoners, any employee or member of the community.
