Yatala Labour Prison
Yatala Labour Prison (YLP) is the state’s metropolitan induction and reception prison.
It accommodates male high to medium security prisoners.
It can also accommodate low security prisoners and those in protective custody.

Visiting
Visit Booking
Prisoners at Yatala Labour Prison are responsible for booking their own face-to-face and video domestic visits. This includes adding visitors to their visitor list.
Telephone bookings by domestic visitors are not accepted.
Visitors can contact the prison via the general enquiries phone number, if required.
All new visitors must have 100 points of identification upon entry to Yatala Labour Prison, and arrive 20 minutes early to be recorded onto biometrics. Visitors are advised to bring the same identification to each visit. Please refer to before going to a visit for entry requirements. Otherwise, entry will not be permitted.
For visitors that cannot enter the metal detector for medical reasons (i.e., metal joint replacement, pacemaker), please bring written evidence of approval from the General Manager and a doctor’s certificate, and show to staff on arrival.
Please note, photo identification is needed to attend video visits.

Special visiting arrangements
Length of visit sessions vary depending upon unit.
Maximum of 3 visitors at a time.
Lockers are available and are accessible via digital keypad.
Professional visits
Professional visiting times vary in each division, however, visit times are generally from 09:00 to 11:00 and 13:30 to 15:30 – seven days a week. G Division and the Infirmary do not routinely have weekend visits.

Include the full name and date of birth of the prisoner you want to visit, and several options of days and times you can visit in case your first preference is not available.

Additional information
YLP manages a video conferencing facility, which allows prisoners to appear before the court via audio-visual link (AVL) without the need to leave the prison.
Access control to YLP includes biometric verification (using an iris or fingerprint scan), a Roto turn metal detector, X-ray scanning of approved personal items, an explosive and narcotics trace detector and Hisec 9 entry/exit booths.
